Overview
Stronghold Athletic Club houses one of the finest climbing gyms
in the Southeast including the oldest in South Carolina
with over 6,000 sq ft of climbing area and new climbing routes continually
updated. Our 40-foot climbing wall can offer one of the most entertaining
ways available to shape up and become strong. Climbing provides
a means to gain an incredibly functional strength as well as greatly
improved balance and agility. Indoor rock climbing also serves as
a gateway to greater adventure in the outdoors.
We offer not only gym-based belay, technique, and anchors classes
but also outdoor trips guided by expert climbers with years of experience
in providing the utmost in fun, excitement, and safety. For those
who have never tried rock climbing, we have an on staff belayer
(a person who performs all the ropework-taking in slack as you climb
and lowering you down when you are ready) on duty from 6-9 pm on
weekdays and 12-5 pm on weekends.
Our bouldering area, in which you can climb without ropes or belayers,
is always available to the inexperienced and expert alike, with
a soft foam floor and huge moveable crash pads. Our staff prides
themselves on a devotion to your well-being and sharing expertise
concerning climbing.
Stronghold offers its climbing facilities not only to individuals,
but to groups of all kinds as well. Our climbing walls are a popular
destination for birthday parties of all ages, church groups, scout
troops, sports teams, outdoor training classes, office parties,
or just families looking for a new and exciting experience. Rock
climbing is included in the many benefits of becoming a member of
Stronghold, but you can also come in and climb on just a day pass,
with rental gear available at the front desk.
Stronghold also has a 20 ft high portable climbing wall that is
great for gatherings and special events of all kinds. We supply
all necessary gear, staff, and expertise.

Public Climbing Hours
Weekdays, 6 am to 9 pm (in-house belayer provided from 6 pm to 9 pm)
Saturday, 8 am to 5 pm (in-house belayer provided from noon to 5 pm)
Sunday, 10 am to 5 pm (in-house belayer provided from noon to 5 pm)
Bouldering wall is always open.
Qualified belayers may use the tower during all operating hours.

What will I need?
Stronghold provides all equipment necessary for indoor classes and clinics. All you need is comfortable clothing. Please give two week notice for groups. You will need a waiver for all kids wanting to climb. You can print it out here.
Groups
Ideal for birthday parties, church outings, club socials,
team building or business getaways.
Climbing Time (2 hours) $15.00
per student
Minimum of 6 per group. Non-refundable deposit required.
Whether you are organizing a climbing event for a birthday party,
scout troop, youth group or social event, Stronghold’s group
climbing programs offer an exciting and challenging experience unlike
any other. Just call 2 weeks in advance to book, and we will provide
a fun, safe and secure environment. (Parents must sign waivers for
all students under 18;please request copies for your group).
Beginner's Indoor Classes (By appointment)
Belay or Technique $25.00
Learn the safety necessary to use our climbing facilities anytime
and belay others with confidence in our belay clinic. Our technique
clinic will teach you to improve your climbing body motion and help
you to master the harder routes.
Anchors or Leading (Requires
experience) $25.00
Take your skill to the next level! Our anchors clinic will teach
you how to use the equipment in setting safe anchor systems while
our leading clinic teaches the skills necessary for safe sport climbing.
Jr. Climbing Team
Tues & Thurs 4-6 pm $15.00 per session
Our fun & exciting climbing team is for all levels, ages 8-19
who want to learn more about rock climbing in a coaching environment.
The workout includes stretching, strengthening exercises,and climbing
practice. Students take trips outside on real rock and compete in
the spring in the JCCA circuit.
Youth Climbing Night
Friday nights 6-9 pm $15.00 per evening
Drop off your kids for an evening night out! Let us do the entertaining
while you enjoy some time to yourself. This program lasts for three
hours and runs every Friday night ages 7-15.

Outdoor Classes
Real Rock I (day trip) $125.00

Real Rock II (overnight) $225.00

Minimum of 2 per Trip. Classes must be paid in full.
Treat yourself to an exciting day of rock climbing at one of North
Carolina’s premiere climbing areas. Stronghold’s instructors
will ensure that you will receive the same support and safety as
you would indoors. Classes are individually tailored to your needs.
(Parents must sign waivers for all students under 18).
Outdoor Groups
Real Rock I (day trip) $65.00
per student
Real Rock II (overnight) $125.00
per student
Minimum of 4 per Trip. Classes must be paid in full.
These programs are constructed for groups who wish to learn the
more technical aspects of climbing at a discount. Classes focus
on climbing technique, belaying, knot tying and rappelling. (Parents
must sign waivers for all students under 18).
Outdoor Portable Climbing Wall
Local set-up $550.00 per day
Out of town $750.00 per day
Multiple day discount $400.00
after 1st day
Non-refundable deposit required.
Due to popular demand, our 20 ft. climbing wall is now available
in your own backyard (or where ever you want to have fun). We will
set-up and provide all the gear and expertise necessary for a safe
and exciting function or party. (Parents must sign waivers for all
students under 18).
To ensure the success of your group’s
climbing event, please read the following guidelines:
• Call ahead to check available dates and times.
• Make reservations at least 2 to 4 weeks ahead of the event.
• Obtain Stronghold’s waiver and release forms for each
participant.
• Deliver a 50% deposit at least 1 week before the event.
